Jaya Rehabilitation Center
In 2004, the Jaya Rehabilitation Center was established to provide prosthetic treatment to victims of the 2001 Earthquake in Kutch, India. The award-winning, non-profit facility offers adaptive treatments and hands-on care to bring quality of life back to the human experience. The Jaya Rehab Center is also committed to the welfare of animals injured within its region, including camels, cows, dogs, and peacocks.
Commit2Change
Commit 2 Change (C2C) is dedicated to empowering vulnerable girls in India and South Asia with critical education and life skills that start a forward-moving cycle of empowerment. The girls learn choice and self-confidence through programs including Adaptive Education Programs, Digital Technology Education, Tutoring, Peer to Peer Mentorship, and Mental Wellness Programs.
Luvin Arms Animal Sanctuary
Luvin Arms is a nonprofit animal sanctuary for abused and neglected farmed animals in Erie, Colorado. They provide exceptional lifelong social, emotional, and cognitive care to rescued animals and empower others to embrace a more compassionate and sustainable lifestyle.
Founders
Shree Arvin Shah came from Mumbai to the United States in 1969 on a student visa. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and a master’s degree in Computer Science from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.
After college, Arvin and his wife, Jaya, started Jaya Travel in 1974 in Windsor, Canada. From these humble beginnings, it grew into one of the largest national travel agencies in the USA, offering airline tickets, cars, hotels, insurance, cruises, and tour packages.
Charity work has always been a priority in Arvin’s life and he has given back to the community, both on a professional and personal level. He is heavily active in his local community as a member of KOJAIN, JAINA, and the Jain Society of Greater Detroit. Additionally, he was the 2019 recipient of the Jain Society Lifetime Achievement Award.
Smt. Jaya Shah was born in Bidada in the Kutch region of India. She graduated from Mithibai College in Mumbai and married Arvin Shah in 1973 before moving to Canada. She became a United States Resident in 1981, settling in the state of Michigan. Since then, Jaya has been an owner at Jaya Travel & Tours, working full time for over 30 years.
Jaya is actively involved in the local Michigan Indian community and a strong supporter of the Jain Society of Greater Detroit. During her life’s journey, she always felt the importance of serving human life. Today she is a role model for women’s empowerment for future generations.
