The Beginning of Jaya Rehab
On January 26th, 2001, a devastating earthquake struck the Kutch region of Gujarat. The magnitude of the earthquake destroyed villages in the region, including Bhuj, Gandhidham, Bachau, and Anjar. The Shree KP Arogyadham – Bidada Sarvodaya Trust Hospital became overwhelmed as more than 60,000 patients arrived at the hospital with broken bones, dismembered limbs along with a multitude of injuries from the earthquake.
Through all this destruction came forth a vision. Chairman Shree Bachubhai Rambhai and the cotrustees hoped to build a physiotherapy rehabilitation and prosthetic center to help all the patients recover from their injuries. To help this vision come to fruition, Smt. Jayaben and Shree Arvinbhai Shah of Jaya Travel & Tours in Detroit, Michigan, USA became the main donors for this project.
Completed in 2004, the facility was named the Jaya Rehabilitation Institute and Research Center.
